The Kashmir Files is a documentary about the expulsion and murders of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir in the early 1990s. The film stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, and Darshan Kumaar, as well as an ensemble cast. In addition, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has complied with public demand for the film to be dubbed in additional regional languages. On May 13, The Kashmir Files movie will launch on ZEE5. What’s the story of ‘The Kashmir Files’ Movie?
The Kashmir Files is a 170-minute Bollywood drama on the tragedy of Kashmiri Pandits, often known as Brahmins, the Hindu religion’s priestly highest caste. In the Muslim-dominated Kashmir, Hinduism is a minority faith, and the Pandits fled the region in the 1990s after being targeted by Pakistan-backed militant Islamists. The “reality” shown in the film is that there was a “genocide” of Pandits in the 1990s. This truth was concealed by a heartless ruling establishment and a compliant media. It alleges that tens of thousands of Pandits were slaughtered, not the low hundreds as claimed by the government and Kashmiri Pandit organisations.
The Exodus of Kashmiri Pandit
When BJP leader Pandit Tika Lal Taploo was assassinated in September 1989, the situation in the valley became increasingly tense. Following the deaths of retired judge Neel KanthGanjoo and journalist-lawyer Prem Nath Bhat, the Kashmiri pandits were subjected to a horrific attack. The problem got out of hand in the early 1990s. On the loudspeakers, it was announced that Kashmiri Pandits should evacuate the valley. Thousands of Kashmiri Pandits relocated to different parts of the country between February and March 1990, which resulted in these well-coordinated attacks.
